Conserving East Austin’s Roots
People
Preserve Eastside Affordability Campaign works to preserve housing affordability in East Austin neighborhoods in order to slow down the rate of displacement of low income families and preserve income and age diversity in the neighborhood.
This is done by assisting long-time and/or low income Eastside homeowners with outstanding tax obligations get caught up with tax payments and by identifying strategies to help them avoid future delinquencies.
Businesses
EAC highlights the businesses of East Austin with its Best of the Barrio program. Here we promote their work and ask the Austin community to vote for their favorites. EAC pays specific attention to legacy businesses that have been in their location for over 20 years.

Nature
Amigos de Parque Zaragoza help facilitate new grounds and facility improvements for the community’ to benefit from and enjoy.
This is done by bringing the community together through park activities, returning cherished, old traditions, as well as creating new ones. The goal is to preserve Parque Zaragoza’s legacy to tell its story as a place of celebration and unity.
